In Class Blog Work
1) I think that was the best post was by Justin called, "getting A's at the Expense of What". It goes into detail about how school can have adverse aide effects on our health as well as in our personal lives.
2) The best comment to a post was by audblogger in response to beast's blog on tattoo's.
3) The best commentary to a thread was in the blog by Interesting Point entitled "Money can't buy happiness? What?". The responses from each of the people gave their opinion on the materialism and narcissism that is all around SMU.

Relay for Life
Last weekend was the Relay for Life event. For those fo you who don't know, Relay for Life is a charity that raises money for cancer research. When i first heard that SMU was going to have an event, i was excited because i have been to and supported events like this in the past. Since every fraternity had their own tent, i was more than happy to help set up for the cause.
When we got to our spot, the last tent on the boulevard, i was anxious for the event to start. As we got the grill started up and the food cooking, more and more people started coming in waves to show there support, or even just to have a good time with friends. Everyone was having a good time untill they announced that we would be walking a silent lap around teh boulevard in memory of all those we have lost to cancer. I was very suprised at the amount of people who became very emotional, and I really respected them for it. After the silent lap, everyone went back to having a good time while some people continued to walk for the cause. When the night came to a close, everyone packed up and went their ways. Overall I thought that the Relay for Life was a very positive thing and hopefully we were able to make a contribution to further cancer research.

Casino Night
As most of you know, last weekend was Phi Delt's Casino Night. Like most people who were going, I was really looking foreward to going to the "biggest party of the year". Everyone who I talked to said that they are going as well and they can't wait to see what it turns out like. For me, as well as the rest of my party, the party was a disaster.
While I had fun with my friends at dinner before the event, the actual event was terrible in my opinion. The lines to get checked in were rediculously long and very unorganized. When I finally got to the front of the line with my date, the woman said that I had only bought one ticket for the two of us. I knew right away that this was wrong because I had purchased my tickets a month ago and still had the receipt in my email account. The lady said that there was nothing she could do and that I had to go to the back of another line to prove that I had in fact bought two tickets. Needless to say that between this and the long lines I was very frustrated. As our group of 8 people finally walked inside, the party was a dismal let down. All of the gambling tables were taken and the room was filled with a bunch of drunk students as well as parents. I can honestly say that the only highlight of the night was the band, who did not start playing untill 11:30. Needless to say that if anyone asks my opinion on whether or not to go next year, my suggestion would be to save your $90 and go out and do something that you would enjoy.
